🆘 39 Tips and Tricks on How to Fail in Affiliate Marketing

In this article, you can see 39 tips on tricks on how to FAIL in affiliate marketing!

Don’t learn the basic terms

Click ID, Click-Through Rate, CPA, CPM, CPL, CPA, RevShare, SOI, DOI, Frequency Capping, … There are just too many terms!

Don’t waste time on learning all of them. What’s the worst thing that can happen? Your account manager can ask you a question about your campaign performance and you won’t understand a sh*t they are saying.

Also bidding on CPV or CPM is not the same. You can learn more about that or find out the hard way. Try bidding $1 CPV and $1 CPM (and don’t set a $100 daily budget in your campaign settings).

Don’t use a tracker

Trackers are expensive. Don’t use a tracker. That way you won’t know which segment is performing well, and which one doesn’t. You won’t know what to cut, and where to scale. You won’t know which publisher is bringing fraudulent leads. You won’t know where bots are coming from. But at least you won’t have any problems with your campaigns getting approved on Google Ads or Facebook ads because all trackers offer only a redirect method for tracking.

It would be great if you could find an affordable tracker (or even a tracker with a free plan) which you could use for all your campaigns. Too bad there aren’t any on the market. Or are they?

Don’t use a landing page

Building landing pages can be expensive. You need a designer, a coder and in the end you’ll need more than one landing page for split testing. It’s better to just direct link to an offer page, just like thousands of affiliates are doing and expect profit. If everyone else is doing it, I’m sure they are making money on that and not just being lazy.

Also you’ll need to figure out what type of landing pages you want and that just takes more time. No point in looking what landing pages others are using and just copying them.

And you’ll also need a server to host your landing page. Don’t get me started on server costs!
